Manage Your Facebook Without Downloading The Facebook Messenger App

In April 2014, FACEBOOK owner Mark Zuckerberg announced that the FACEBOOK MESSENGER would no longer be available in the main app and that users are need to DOWNLOAD the separate MESSENGER APP for chat functionality.

Here goes the problem, everyone hates the new Facebook Messenger App.  Why? In my case, number one is the LOW in SPACE in my PHONE STORAGE and the insidious privacy permissions that Facebook is doing- the spying and accessing our conversation and reading our private messages.

So far this is the most violation done by FACEBOOK to us, VIOLATING OUR PRIVACY RIGHT.

That is why, I deleted FACEBOOK MESSENGER APP in my mobile.

How did I manage to use the main app with the old version of the Facebook Messenger?

(1) Click the REMIND ME button. It pops out every 2 or 3 times in your Facebook Messenger.

(2) Then after a week, you will see LEARN MORE. Do not click that, instead LOG OUT from your Facebook Main App. Then SIGN IN again. And you will see the old version of the FACEBOOK MESSENGER back again.

There's no need to download the Mobile Facebook Messenger App. I've been using this technique for almost 7 months now since I deleted the Facebook Messenger App in my mobile phone.

Your longing to continue using the old version of the Facebook Messenger, if you want the old version you can follow these steps and this will help you go back to the old messenger.

*If these steps didn't help you reset your password, or no choice you have to deal with the new one.

  2. Wow. Thanks for the information. I am not affected by this as I do not access FB on any other device than our desktop and laptop but very useful for others. Good job.

  3. I hate it too but I also managed to remove the messenger app. What did I do? I just disabled my Facebook updates under settings. Since then, hindi na inoffer sa akin ng FB ang new messenger app. Hoho! You can try it too. Well, I don't mind using an older version of FB app as long as that messenger can't bother me ;)

Cool! Thanks for the tip; I have tried it on my phone and it worked. I just clicked my first "remind me".

I'm curious about the privacy issues on FB messenger. Would you have more info? The only thing that irked me was that they are forcing you to use it instead of giving you a choice.

    1. All I know is that when you click to download/install the Messenger App , you will see a portion there stating that if you install the app you are giving them(FACEBOOK) the right to read all your private messages and record all your conversation. That is so unfair- that is INVASION OF PRIVACY.

  8. I deleted all the apps (Facebook and Messenger) and I'm enjoying the functionality of Safari Facebook on my iPhone. Well I can access Facebook on my iMac system in the office anyway, though this steps will be helpful for those who are hooked on Facebook Mobile.

    1. You can still communicate with your friends using the old version without downloading the apps that read and hear your conversation. That is invasion of privacy.
