A New Beginning: National University Davao
Some occasions are more than just ceremonies. They represent hope, gratitude, and the beginning of something meaningful. The Pamukad: NU Davao Blessing and Inauguration marks a special milestone for National University Davao, bringing together faith, education, and the promise of new opportunities.
What makes this occasion particularly meaningful is that the program begins with a Eucharistic Celebration, followed by a campus blessing before the formal inauguration activities. It is a beautiful way to welcome a new chapter with prayer, gratitude, and hope for the future.
For me, milestones like these are reminders that every new beginning deserves to be celebrated, especially when it opens doors to learning, growth, and opportunities for the next generation.
Beginning with Faith: Eucharistic Celebration
The afternoon begins at 1:30 PM with the Eucharistic Celebration, officiated by Davao Archbishop Romulo Geolina Valles.
Beginning an important milestone with the Holy Mass gives the occasion a deeper meaning. It is a moment to offer prayers of thanksgiving and ask for guidance as the institution moves forward with its mission in education.
I find something meaningful about starting a new chapter with faith. Beyond the facilities, plans, and achievements, there is a reminder that wisdom, humility, and gratitude are equally important as we pursue our goals.
With Archbishop Valles officiating the celebration, the occasion begins with prayer and a blessing for the journey ahead.
Campus Blessing: A Prayer for Growth and Success
At 3:00 PM, the program proceeds to the campus blessing, also officiated by Archbishop Romulo Geolina Valles.
A campus blessing is more than a formal tradition. It symbolizes prayers for protection, peace, wisdom, and success for everyone who will become part of the university community.
A school is not simply a building filled with classrooms and offices. It is a place where students discover their potential, educators share their knowledge, and lifelong friendships and meaningful experiences begin.

My hope is that the blessing of the NU Davao campus marks the beginning of many fruitful years, filled with opportunities for students, faculty members, employees, and the wider community.
The Inauguration Program: Celebrating a Milestone
The formal program begins at 3:45 PM, starting with the dance performance by the NU Dancers followed by an opening remarks by Mr. John Ray C. Camorongan, Academic Director.
The program continues with a special performance from Sta. Ana National High School, followed by the President's Message from Dr. Renato Carlos H. Ermita, Jr., President of NU Philippines.
A symbolic toast follows, marking the celebration of this milestone. The gathering also features messages from invited guests representing education, local government, and the private sector:

- Atty. Antoinette G. Principe, Councilor, Davao City
- Dr. Liza C. Suan, Education Supervisor, CHED Region XI
Their participation adds significance to the occasion, bringing together different sectors that play important roles in supporting education and community development.
Looking Ahead to New Opportunities
The program concludes with the closing remarks of Mr. Edwin J. Loma, Executive Director, followed by the NU Hymn and photo opportunities.
