This is the day, May 9, 2022, the fate of the country will be decided by over 62 million registered voters as they make their choices of officials both from National and Local positions.

Last April 30, I visited my polling area together with my two young adults. It's already a habit for me to visit my polling place prior election. Because, as a former Comelec BEI (Board of Election Inspector), I know what scenario would happen if we will not check our names on the Voters List. That's why I also have to teach my two girls, especially my youngest as a first time voter,  because election season can be overwhelming and at the same time confusing.

Today's election process involves pandemic safety protocols, that must be observed. Though elections is not new to me, but because of the pandemic, there are many changes in the voting guidelines, that's why we need to religiously observed.

Last 2016 election voting time is 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Now, it's 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

    #ELEKSYON2022 in a PANDEMIC Experience

It's raining here in Davao City, we woke up at 4:00 AM. The night before the election,  I told my girls to prepare their copy of their Cluster Number, Precint Number and their Assigned Number of the Comelec Voters Registrations,  put it on a piece of paper for faster movement inside the Precinct. I also remind them to bring the new normal essentials: like face mask, alcohol and personal ball pen.

Went to our polling place at exactly 5:30 AM, upon arrival the school gate is still CLOSE. We've been told that the gate will be OPEN at exactly 6:00 AM. People are already shouting to let us in because it's raining very hard and there are Senior Citizens and PWDs are waiting outside. Honestly, though social distancing is one of the safety protocols to be followed, it was never been followed.

And the clock strikes 6:00 AM, guard allowed us to enter the school and have our temperature check taken. But, because a crowd of angry people eager to get inside, the thermal checker got malfunction and again people yelling desperately as they only have one thermal checker available in the school. Well, I don't know what happened next,  how the school and the Comelec people do about it. As for us, who are done with our temperature check and we are all OK to vote, we proceed to our designated Precinct.

I went to my assigned room and ask one of the Poll Watchers and guide me to stay first in the Waiting Area.

Yes, you've heard it right! For the first time in my electoral experience, a waiting area was made, as part of the pandemic protocol in Election 2022.

The Poll Watcher calls my name and went inside the Voting Room give the piece of paper to the Electoral Board (remember the piece of paper that we prepare the night before the election) with the precinct number, sequence number and cluster precinct number. So, I skip STEP 2 Procedure here.

The Chairman assigned in my precinct, check her Voters Registration Book if my name was there and upon verifying she let me signed using my personal ball pen on the VRB and handed me my ballot secrecy folder and a marking pen.

I cast my vote exactly 6:15 AM, first feed of my secrecy ballot, the VCM (Vote Counting Machine) did not read it! Waaahhh! I prayed hard for the second time, yepppeeehhhhh! Finally, it reads. Then they give me the receipt and check if it's correct. All are CORRECT and then deposited it in the receptacle.

And at last at 6:25 AM, done voting! Early bird. First in line.

Right forefinger nail stained with inedible ink.

And as for my girls, their voting experience were also fast and smooth.

This election is definitely something new to me.

    1. (New) because it's my youngest daughter first time to vote.

    2. (New) because I like the Polling Area now compared previous election (it's very chaotic last year). Today, our school polling precincts are well organized despite of small problems with their Thermal Checker. 😊🤞

    3. (New) we have our WAITING AREA! Love it. Queue lines, no more.

    4. (New) I love the BEI's uniform shirt. I haven't taken pictures of them, but I guess you've seen it too! In our time, we don't have that kind of uniformity in terms of shirt to wear, but we request for it though.

    5. (New) VAD or Voters' Assistance Desk is now visible. 😝😝😝🤪 And now, they're all organized. Copies of the Voters List and Cluster Precinct are posted in the GYM area too!

    6. (New) And lastly,  first time to vote wearing a mask! 🤪🤪🤪🤞

Well, those are just my newest observations in this Election 2022 amidst pandemic. As this will be one of many other instances where you go out and exercise your rights as a Filipino.

We've been filling up with virtual happy hours looking at our gadgets, and some people are starting to feel exhausted. And for two years living in a life as an introvert — the disaster preppers of a new, ravage social lives.

    PUERTO PRINCESA: A Paradise Regained

People are coping with the pandemic and by following safety protocols firmly enforced, Puerto Princesa is poised to again welcome tourists with open arms. In recent years, the highly urbanized city and tourist haven has been paralyzed by the Covid-19 pandemic, then pummeled by Typhoon Odette. But it is now on the road to recovery---as spectacularly as its scenic, romantic and gastronomic attractions.

“The tourism industry is the lifeblood of Puerto Princesa, along with agriculture. Almost 15,000 people directly or indirectly benefit from tourism. In varying degrees, most of the recent construction and development projects are related to tourism: hotel-building, parks, cruise-ship ports, street lights, roads and many more. Unfortunately, some of these have been on hold since the onset of the pandemic,” discloses Demetrio “Toto” Alvior Jr., the city tourism officer.

    The Royal Connection

Puerto Princesa, the capital of postcard-perfect Palawan, sprawls across 253,982 hectares of captivating coastlines stretched over 106 kilometers. Due to its strategic geographical location, it has sufficient depth to allow ships of all sizes to anchor, earning a reputation as a “Princess of Ports,” or in Spanish, “Puerto Princesa.”

There’s no contention that Puerto Princesa is one of the country’s greatest pleasures. A holiday destination universally beloved by travelers, beach-combers and trekkers; a bustling business center with a rural allure; a provincial vibe with modern amenities; and a clean and green city recognized for its lush forests, fresh air and frontier character.

    Rising Above Covid-19

The city of Puerto Princesa has been struggling to get to its feet since the outbreak of Covid-19 in early 2020. The lack of tourists, which is the main industry, has forced hundreds of tourism-related businesses to close, leaving thousands of tourism workers unemployed.

“The public-health crisis forced them to find alternative sources of income, which was made more difficult because of the restrictions of movement due to several lockdowns,” Mr. Alvior reveals. “One factor of low tourist arrivals is the fluctuating number of Covid cases, which in turn affects the determination of quarantine requirements and national government intervention policies.”

Today, Puerto Princesa is experiencing record lows in terms of economic losses, losing around P5 billion a year for the past two years from potential tourist receipts.

“The City Tourism Department has been strengthening its social media campaigns to encourage local tourists to visit local attractions, in a bid to boost much-needed revenues to the ailing tourism sector,” a cautiously optimistic Mr. Alvior says. “We have one important wish in the City Tourism Department, and that is to prioritize the aids for the Typhoon Odette-affected tourism industry here.”

The goal is to regain the city’s glory as an eco-tourism capital. “Our 2022 goals are full restoration of all the tourist attractions affected by Typhoon Odette such as the completion of the construction of the cruise-ship port and other man-made tourist attractions. There will be wide, extensive and aggressive promotions of Puerto Princesa to the local and international market.”

    The Last Frontier

Puerto Princesa has a plethora of tourist spots. But many tourists who visit the city put the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, one of the New7Wonders of Nature, on top of their list. As the jump-off point for exploring the world-famous Tubbataha Reef, the city also hosts a fair share of adventurers.

“Since the Covid-19 outbreak, we have never ceased to hope that the future will be better. This year 2022 is no different. And while what we want is a full recovery, we cannot afford to be careless when taking big steps. As we begin to truly understand the gravity of the situation, we also come to realize that our moves must be consistent with the bigger picture such as the national situation,” Mr. Alvior says.

Since February 10, the city has been happily welcoming more visitors once again, hoping that the arrival numbers will soon be back to pre-pandemic levels. In this initiative, the tourism department shares the privilege on with the private sector.

“While the government is the administrator of the State, the private sector is the bloodline. The government and the private sector are two inseparable factors for Puerto Princesa to prosper, and most importantly, to recover,” Mr. Alvior says. “The key to recovery is to enable and support the private sector to keep or resume their business operations. When it comes to the city’s biggest partners, apart from government agencies, it is the collective impact of small-business operations.”

Puerto Princesa may be “The Last Frontier,” but the City Tourism Department is confident that it will always be the first choice of every traveler.

But as people began to adjust now, they started to find ways to bring back their social lives. Visiting places is no longer a hindrance now, by following safety protocols, like social distancing and washing hands — this pandemic is upending!

Recreating what we lost for two years, the result of a bizarre feeling of distancing our social lifestyles overwhelmed despite the fact that we can now unwind and relax, a fun that we lost, but now regained at last!

    Paymaya is Maya now!

I received an email saying that they're changing their brand name to MAYA.

I've been using Paymaya for quite some time now. I also have GCASH app, tried to use both apps on two separate occasions. Both of them were involved transferring or  sending, saving and receiving money.

The new Paymaya —  the Maya.

I'm sure you're asking, "Why change the brand name?", "What's new with the app?".  Same with you, I am curious to know what are the development of this application.

As for their promotional materials, PayMaya was rebranded into Maya as it aims to be your "all-in-one" money app. And for me, maybe because Maya is easier to remember. Another thing aside from changing their brand name, the new app added a function for those who are into buying and selling cryptocurrencies.

Because I'm curious about the changes,  I updated my PayMaya app in Google Play Store.

Viola! The new interface is beginner-friendly and users can easily learn the tricks and trade of the new app.

After submitting your data by logging in and approving the Data Policy, you will see your WALLET, followed by the SAVINGS, CREDIT (up to P15,000 credit limit), and the activation of CARDS.

And other services are: ESSENTIALS, MONEY MAKERS like the savings, credit and crypto, LIFESTYLE, PAYMENTS, REWARDS, etc...

BTW, I'm only using PayMaya for paying my PLDT Bill. Now, after exploring the app I have so many discoveries. Well, that will be POSTED on my next blog. 😊

What are you waiting for, explore the app now! Use my invite code when you join Maya for a P100 welcome voucher!

Make sure to upgrade your account, cash in, and complete your first transaction to get your reward. Learn more at maya.ph/refer. Click my invite code now!

Woooh! I thought there was a problem in their relationship. Oh well, that's normal to encounter such problem, especially to young parents. I also experienced that kind of situation wherein I have to wake up in the middle of the night just to change diaper. It's so hard, because I'm a working mom and its very tiring to do the changing and we (referring to my partner) always have our schedule, but sometimes my partner can't do it so I have to do his part. And that means a big fight after! 😂😂😂

    WHAT'S THE STORY ABOUT?
A few days ago, netizens and fans expressed their support to new parents Elisse Joson and Mccoy de Leon after seeing the couple’s cryptic posts on Facebook and Instagram stories, hinting that both had enough already.
If you don't know the whole story, read here AYOKO NA!

After much probing, we found that the real cause was the couple’s lack of good night sleep. While most people can relate to having sleepless nights, first-time parents like Elisse and Mccoy are nodding their heads and saying, “We hear you.”

    Parents’ Partner for Uninterrupted Sleep

McLisse, in a Pampers Power Parents Show Facebook Live with Saab Magalona and Jim Bacarro on Monday, revealed that they had to wake up in the middle of the night to their daughter, Felize McKenzie, crying because of the discomfort and leaks caused by the previous diaper brand they were using. They recalled that the most difficult time for them was during Felize’s first six months – Elisse would get up in the middle of the night to feed and to change diapers multiple times. To prevent this from happening again, Elisse and Mccoy have taken shifts in changing Felize’s diapers which eventually left the couple tired, frustrated and not having enough sleep. For working parents like Elisse and Mccoy, a restful sleep is important. And when your baby is uncomfortable and does not get enough sleep, that also means that the whole family does not either.

They also shared some of their parenting struggles and promoted equal parenting with fellow parents Saab Magalona and Jim Bacarro

Apparently, this is a common struggle for parents. Most nighttime diaper changes are either done before baby sleeps or around the parents’ sleeping schedule to reduce the need for parent and baby to wake up at night. However, parents still experience instances when they wake up in the middle of the night to check their baby’s diaper. They oftentimes worry of “babad” or the soaking in free liquid on diaper’s topsheet.

But after hearing recommendations from fellow Pampers parents, McLisse decided to try the new Pampers Overnight and saw the difference in their daughter’s sleep: comfortable, uninterrupted, and free of leaks. All thanks to its superior Zero Babad Night Lock that absorbs baby’s pee all night and helps prevent rashes! It has Zero Babad Technology that can absorb up to 1 night’s pee based on average overnight loading and Zero Babad NightLock belt to prevent nighttime leaks.

Call to Equal Parenting to Ease the Load for New Parents

During the same Facebook Live show, the couples discussed how parenting is not easy and how listening and supporting each other is essential. Saab pointed out, “Diaper problems man or other complex challenges, whether emotional, physical, mental - those are valid, and you can also always ask for help… and for us, let’s continue to give them support.”

Mccoy and Elisse said that amidst parenting struggles at home, they are both grateful that they equally share the caregiving duties which helps in lessening their parenting loads and worries. Saab and Jim added that having the support of other family members also helps alleviate stress as well.

The concept of equal parenting rings even more relevancy now with the celebration of the International Women’s day as it emphasizes that caregiving and housework are the responsibility of both parents, and they mentioned how we need to break outdated stereotypes that women are the sole, full-time caregiver in the early stages of a child’s life.

Procter & Gamble on Promoting Equal Parenting

Last year, P&G launched a program called “Share the Care” that gives its employees, regardless of their gender and marital status, 8 weeks of fully paid parental leave and offers all kinds of parents different opportunities to care for and bond with the children new to their family – biological or adopted. This is beyond the standard 7 days that is mandated by the Philippine law for fathers. Meanwhile, mothers continue to receive 105 calendar days of fully paid maternal leave.

Join the Pampers Power Parents and promote healthy sleep by giving your babies the night diaper that offers better value with zero babad protection. Shop the new Pampers Overnight Pants today by visiting our Lazada and Shopee stores and other major retailers now.

Within the last quarter of 2020 and the whole year of 2021, we’ve all missed face-to-face events and business – and we are worse for it, especially in the social media, blogosphere, video creators, etc.. And yes, we’ve been stuck behind our computer screens for two years now, it’s sometimes hard to remember the power face-to-face events have and particularly, how those chance meetings at live events can come about so unexpectedly and yet be so profound.

Honestly, I miss all the personal interactions. The chances of meeting and to have conversations between delegates, event sponsors, exhibiting companies or even the event organizers, that lead to everything from business collaborations, knowledge sharing and ongoing relationships, business or otherwise.

I was invited to attend Round Table Discussion about Gender & Art, but it turns out I'm having a one-on-one interview with some of the Bai Hinang artists.

I'm so honoured to interview two wonderful artists of BaiHinang Davao Women Artists in the BAI CHROMATICA ART Women's Month Showcase held at La Herencia Davao. The exhibition is open to the public at the Arc Library in La Herencia Davao, F. Torres St., Davao City.

BTW, BaiHinang is Davao City's first all female artist group. It's a mix of professional artists and hobbyists, its main goal is to showcase the plethora of artistic talents, from realistic paintings to pure abstractions.

Thanks so much Jacinta Eve Sevilla of @tesori.rosari and Aimee Suarez of @aimeesuarezart

Watch the full interview here ⬇️⬇️⬇️

BAI HINANG DAVAO artist Jacinta Eve Sevilla.

The love for nature and animals are her inspiration in creating her works. She is also into making jewelries and rosaries. You can check some of her works at her Instagram @tesori.rosario

BAI HINANG DAVAO artist Aimee Suarez is now more inclined in creating oil canvas painting.

She gets her inspiration from the daily lives of the people, places and environment.

More artworks from her Facebook Page @aimeesuarezart

Indeed, face-to-face events really are what makes the world go round! So glad I'm back, doing the things I loved. Thanks to BaiHinang Davao and Tita Mae Fe Ancheta for invitation.

Though the RTD becomes a one-on-one interview,  still our discussion is their own interpretation regarding GENDER & ART,  what inspire them and where do they get their inspiration. Both artists express themselves through their art, the outcome of the cultural process of sexual and social identity is well-presented through their artworks.

I totally agree in the article I've read at RoolingStone.com entitled "FINALLY, RESEARCH SUGGESTS FEMALE ARTISTS ARE MORE CREATIVE THAN MEN". It's a new study from a music researchers that women are engaged in creative fields like art, music, and literature at higher rates than men – and are generally more creative than men!

For me, maybe because women are more patient and very endearing to their crafts and activities. We are more interested in, that if we like something, we work hard to have it! We are more compassionate biologically speaking and I agree to that! 👍

    Happy Women's Day to all!

In a relationship there's always an Ups and Downs. They always say, it's normal and its inevitable. We cannot control what's going on, and as significant they are, we pay little attention to the changes as they become part of our daily life. Partners tend to believe that we have control over our relationships, that is sometimes both don't know how to fix it and in the end partners will argue a lot in small things and sometimes if we don't know what to do, we give up!

"Ayoko na" meaning "I don't want it anymore". You will find that your relationship is uncomfortable,  both of you is in a dark place, and you're not certain when or how things happened. This is what I found out between these two partners, Elisae Joson and Mccoy de Leon. I was shocked when I read their posts in the social media respectively.

‘Ayoko na. Gabi gabi na lang akong walang tulog’: Elisse and Mccoy foreshadow break-up in cryptic post

    THE CRYPTIC POST

Elisse Joson and Mccoy de Leon, or “McLisse”, were first discovered through the popular reality television show Pinoy Big Brother Lucky Season 7 back in 2016. Both contestants were very expressive of their feelings, especially Mccoy. And fans were also quick to notice that they have an undeniable connection and chemistry. As years went by, the two showbiz newbies went from close friends to being first-time parents to 10-month-old daughter Felize McKenzie.

Many fans follow the two PBB alums on their social media platforms, and they were left shocked and wondering what happened to the two, especially just after Elisse’s birthday surprise party for Mccoy and Felize’s baptism. In the afternoon of March 04, 2022, Elisse published a cryptic post.

According to the actress, “Akala ko okay na pero nakakapagod pala. Gabi-gabi na lang akong walang tulog. Babad sa isip ko kung paano matitigil yung paghihirap namin ni baby. Ayoko na.”

This post did not sit well with fans of the couple. They shared theories on what could be the source of this tension. Some say there could be issues within their families, financial problems, and many more.

Later that day, Mccoy also took a jab at the issue and posted what he was feeling.

Mccoy expressed how he also feels weighed down by the situation, “Nahihirapan na din ako.” Regardless of how hard things are right now, the young father is not giving up on his partner and daughter saying he will find a way to give them protection, “At sana kahit ganito, hindi tayo bumitaw dahil gagawin ko ang lahat mapasaya at maprotektahan lang kayo.”

We have reached out to both camps about this issue, and they are still yet to respond.

Hope both camps will respond to answers all the queries regarding their posts. I know that Good Communication,  no matter how busy you are both, see to it that you can sit down with your partner and have a one-on-one time talk without the busyness of life. Make it easy — nothing over the moon or strenuous. The goal is to TALK and have fun - together.
