    Project Title: TAGUM CITY GARDEN

The concept of this project is to redesign and reconfigure the old Tagum Trade and cultural center. This building has been used for almost two decades now and this building clearly needs to be renovated at the same time to give a more sustainable impact.I designed this building in an environmental approach or the Biophilic Design Approach. The Design aims to create a good and productive venue for people living the area (which is at the center of the city) whom are not able to have gardens around them. This structure enables them to have vegetations at the comfort of their neighborhood as well as to the people who do not have enough food to eat every day. This is also to help people by giving them the venue and place to plant vegetables and also this will be able to help the surroundings have fresh air and cooler environment. ~ Karen Joy Robines

    Design Title: MARAHUYO DESIGN CAMP

Inspiring, Reviving, and Supporting Artistry with Interior Design through Attention Restoration Theory

Marahuyo meaning, to be enchanted and attracted, is a design camp that aims to offer a refreshing and enlightening experience for the artistic soul by nurturing creativity in a restorative environment. It seeks to establish emotional depth with connections that captivate and focus healthy attention for people by indulging with nature.

Located in Mabitac, Laguna, Philippines, the camp aims to develop the site into three phases, foreseeing an expansion for the hospitality industry. Laguna has always been known for its natural resources and recognized for its art and crafts industry. As time goes, Laguna became urbanized as being one of the provinces near Manila. The other industries continuously grow and develop in the major cities of Laguna, while the other side remains stagnant. The technological shift has also impeded appreciation for the art and crafts industry. Laguna is indeed rich in artistry but lacks in support, which Marahuyo intends to empathize with the community artisans. ~ Moira Kayla Ramiro

This year's theme reflects the emphathy of our young designers and architects within their community, culture,  and environment through their designs. Over the years, Nippon Paint's AYDA developed a sense of network together with design experts, industry  groups and top design schools and universities.

As what Mr. Michael Francisco said during the virtual conference,"We are hopeful that our efforts through AYDA will continue to encourage outstanding architecture and interior designer students to be a good influencers,  by building an environment of the future".

Nippon Paint has done a wonderful job in encouraging young people to be part of this momentum, wherein they can share their knowledge and talents in architecture and interior designing.  And it was an honour to be part of the entire process as AYDA 2021 Engagers/Influencers for the social media. As I see the whole process of this event, it's not a competition but a camaraderie of the participants as they were guided very well with the vision and mission of Nippon Paint AYDA. I conclude that AYDA become a great factor in supporting the young architecture and interior designers,  a good initiative that winners have the chance to go international - that's a great opportunity!

And lastly, looking with the other works of the students finalists, its not a failure, they've done a good job too! All are socially relevant with the theme, in fact they are all winners to me and they deserve an applause for their hard work.

Congratulations Nippon Paint AYDA Philippine Edition and Mabuhay to all the participants! DAGHANG SALAMAT.

I'm saying goodbye (and good riddance) to my 2021 Personalized Journal. And saying hello to my 2022.

It's probably fair to say that this has been one of the worst years in recent times. With the pandemic, we live, learn and create a sense-making narrative, shaping and reflecting cultural ideas and experiences. And by putting all that in a journal by writing it down your tasks, goals, and notes, it helps alleviate the most important thing in life — being grateful and bringing in good vibes only.

My Personalized Journal for this year is more on a lined page to write down my thoughts and record my daily activities and events.

While there are many apps available online that will help me organize my life, nothing beats the feeling of writing it down on pen and paper/notebook. As I say, I like to record my daily events in my life, make a note of how I feel after a meeting or date (just like a diary), wrote down the noteworthy things that happened during my day so that I can remember them and reflect on them.

I will also write my wins and celebration. The idea here is that whatever circumstances excites me, that gives me the feeling that I've won. Like clients approval and other event invitations, etc.

Of course, I have goals, so I will also write down my to-do list here. Making my own time frame to achieve my goals and how I'm going to approach it. Hmm... this sounds interesting and a challenge to me at the same time! Just think positive Jean 😜😍😘. Aja!

I love watching Korean drama. This journal will be the same with my 2021 Personalized Journal. I will write down all my KDrama that I will watch for this year, my favourite drama in one place planner, and I will also collect inspiring quotes from the drama, this is a good thing to do to keep me empowered.

Not to forget the REMINDER NOTE part, wherein I put my bill payments & collections. And my domain renewal too! 😁🤟

What I like about my 2022 Personalized Journal is that, even we are already in a digital world wherein cellphone and gadgets is the fastest mean of communication and we can dial and call people directly on our phone, this journal still have the old way of keeping the name and addresses of people to call to.

I'm going to write down a list of people that I want to have at least a half-hour phone conversation with, like my senior aunties and uncles who are not into gadget thingy. Keeping a promise and by giving them a call will also help me boosts my mood vice versa.

My Personalized Journal for this year is plain and simple. Writing a too detailed plan will only lead me to disappointment, so instead, I'm making a plan per month only, that includes things I really want and I always wanted to do and be. This will be my source to create a self-improvement guide for myself well-being and also for my work progression.

    Goodbye 2021. Hello 2022.

BUTTERFLY means not only beautiful,  but also a metaphor of representing spiritual rebirth, transformation,  change, hope & life.

My school is near REX BOOKSTORE when I'm still studying in college. Though I'm not fond of reading books, because I find it boring, but I want to inculcate a habit of reading a lot. So, I get the habit of buying books the likes of pocketbooks and magazines especially fashion and cooking. Rex Bookstore changes my personality, my experience reading the books I bought from them help me rejuvenate all my activities and that renew my perspective — that reading dares you grow!

Reading allows you to experience multiple realities, that books and our EDUCATORS have a unique valuable role in our life.

“Teaching is the profession that teaches all other professions.” Teachers are living vessels of knowledge and of dreams and aspirations of children whose voices fill teachers’ hearts and minds. As such, we recognize that lifelong learners need lifelong teachers—both championing education toward a better future for all.

With the desire to fuel hope and inspire action among Edukampyons, REX Education and the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) launched the PEAC–REX Edukampyon Iskolar Para Sa Kinabukasan, a scholarship program that aims to champion, strengthen, and advance teacher education by encouraging the best and brightest learners to pursue the teaching profession.

Addressing the Challenges Faced by the Education Sector

According to the 2018 OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) results, Filipino students ranked the lowest among 79 countries in mathematics, science, and reading, with over 80% of students not reaching the minimum level of proficiency in reading.

In a 2019 research conducted by the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMMS), scores of Filipino students decreased by 61 points in mathematics and by 83 points in science from 2003 to 2019. The Southeast Asia Primary Learning Metrics (SEA-PLM) also found that in 2019, at least 83% of Grade 5 students scored below reading and mathematics standards expected for end of primary schooling.

According to the World Bank Philippines Report 2021: “Improving teacher quality in schools will mean attracting and selecting the best candidates into the teaching profession. To strengthen teacher quality, [we] should begin from selecting the right people into the profession. Policies in teacher recruitment and hiring should be aimed at increasing the attractiveness of the career, such as incentivizing high achievers to pursue teacher training and eventually enter into the profession.”

    Edukampyon Iskolar Para Sa Kinabukasan

The Edukampyon Iskolar Para Sa Kinabukasan scholarship program rings true to REX Education’s Edukampyon advocacy: to rally every Filipino to champion education so that every learner is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, challenged, and values-oriented. As Edukampyons, we are duty-bound to uplift the Filipino learners today and in the future—and help make them whole.

The time to act is now. By encouraging the best and the brightest to pursue the teaching profession, we are investing in our learners and in the future of Philippine education. By being partners, we are working together to build and strengthen the path toward a brighter tomorrow for all of us, for our nation. By supporting the program, we are giving back to the teaching profession the highest honor and prestige it deserves.

“Teaching is a profession that has the power and influence to inspire the grooming of the greatest artists, doctors, and innovators. So, it is essential as Edukampyons to look into how we can advance and strengthen the quality of teachers and instructors from basic education to the tertiary level. We seek for the best and the brightest to work with us, commit to the profession, and start creating a rippled effect as we enhance teachers’ quality today. This small act that we are doing in the present can have a great impact on all of our futures,” said Don Timothy Buhain, chief executive officer of REX Education during the launch of the program on October 5, 2021.

    What’s Next?

REX Education and PEAC are here for you. Students can apply for the program through their respective schools; while schools can nominate their top students for the scholarship, to encourage good-standing students to pursue Teacher Education for their tertiary education.
REX Education and PEAC will also partner with teacher education centers of excellence (COEs) and centers of development (CODs) across the country to grant the scholarships, ensuring quality education and training for future teachers.

By school year 2022–2023, 50 of the best and brightest freshmen will be selected across four basic education specializations: Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Those admitted to the program will not only enjoy living and technology-support allowances; they will also receive the best training from partner COEs and CODs across the country and bear the pride and responsibility to give back and advance the community.

Edukampyon Iskolar Para Sa Kinabukasan was launched through a virtual event that gathered educators and representatives from PEAC, REX Education, Philippine Business of Education, ASEAN Teacher Education Network, the Department of Education, and the Commission on Higher Education. Apart from launching the initiative, it was also a celebration of teachers across the country in time for World Teachers’ Month.
Those who missed the event can still watch it via REX Education Facebook page.

We do have a unique valuable role in life. But many of us, still seek for satisfaction even if we often work for a different job, not just an educator but someone who challenges our perspective through life's most common situation.  Just like the author in a book, who naturally inspire empathy for their characters, empathazing different viewpoints.

So, if you are that person who agree with different purposes,  be a TEACHER. Experienced a rejuvenating quest that will renew your energy and elevates you knowledge, be a guide that gives purpose, help the future young one's to persevere difficulty and unlocks parts of themselves that they didn't even know existed. For the reasons, that this program provided by REX EDUCATION and PRIVATE EDUCATION ASSISTANCE COMMITTEE (PEAC) will make future educators shows more hope and confidence, with great excitement and purpose and firm hold to restore Philippine education alive.
