With the continual spread of the virus in the community, we still need to express our deep concern for the health of our detainees— financially and mentally.  It's great to know, given the current levels of congestion in detention facilities in the Philippines, Sterling Bank of Asia extend their assistance for the inmates.

Sterling Bank of Asia (SBA) has selected San Juan City's Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) as one of this year's beneficiaries of their annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, the Kind Heart Gives Campaign.

Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) of San Juan City's BJMP showcased their craftsmanship in their parol-making project, which also serves as an opportunity for them to support themselves and their families financially.

The "parol," which is one of the most iconic symbols of Filipino Christmas, is a staple decoration in most houses.

"The parol is a great expression of the Filipinos’ faith and hope," said Cecilio San Pedro, SBA's President and CEO.

"We'd like to take this opportunity to extend our support to the PDL's of San Juan City as we move towards a brighter Christmas celebration in these challenging times," San Pedro added.

During the announcement of the activity, Sterling Bank of Asia employees also ordered their own parols to bring home and hang in their homes.

“It is inspiring to see how our fellow employees happily bought their own parols as a way of helping these persons deprived of liberty,” said Dulce Edillor, SBA’s Human Resources Group Head.

"From a company-led initiative, our fellow employees voluntarily involved themselves in the project,” exclaimed  Edillor.

Filipinos no longer need to bear the burden of outdated medical care. The whole country was given respite from the worries of getting quality medical care with National mWellness Day by mWell, the country’s only fully integrated health and wellness mobile app.

Kara David, founder of Project Malasakit, hosted the online event in the National mWellness Day culminating activity states, “As caretakers, guardians, or as a parent, the anxiety and challenges of getting quality medical care is heightened especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The first ever virtual medical mission by mWell PH brings health and wellness closer to people. Nakakalungkot, subalit totoong may kakulangan sa healthcare para tugunan ang pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan.”

On September 4 and 5, 2021, the first nationwide online medical mission in the Philippines took place via the mWell app by Metro Pacific Health Tech Corporation (MPHTC), which provided free consultations with primary care and specialized doctors.

Despite hectic schedules in the medical field at this time of crisis, a number of doctors willingly gave their time and expertise to a bigger mission, and this is giving the gift of wellness to Filipinos. With the medical community, mWell is transforming the country’s digital health landscape by providing professional consultations, medical diagnosis, care and treatment plans.

A volunteer obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Melani Camarillo Espino explained how she adjusted to the pandemic by transitioning from limiting her clinic calls to telemedicine so that she can be contacted anytime, anywhere. Using the mWell platform, her initial apprehension was cleared because she discovered how user-friendly it is and technical support was prompt. She recommended it to her patients.

“Using mWell is just like making a private house call with my patients from the comforts of their homes. The flow of my virtual consultations are smooth, plus I gained more patients through the app.” said Dr. Espino. Being one of the volunteers for National Wellness Day, she wants to reach out to more patients even in remote areas who are afraid to go out, and provide quality and accessible health care via the use of mWell app.

Building momentum to accelerate positive change in healthcare, mWell now features 24/7 doctor on-call services. Filipinos can consult with a doctor anytime through the mWell app with online teleconsultations from a roster of general practitioners and specialty doctors nationwide. Get much-needed access to health professionals from the safety and comfort of home.

Download the mWell app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. For more information, visit https://www.mWell.com.ph.

Last August 7, I went to Union Bank of the Philippines,  Rizal Branch to withdraw money. But on my first transaction I encounter a problem, "SORRY TRANSACTION CANNOT BE PROCESSED. PLEASE TRY LATER". I repeat the process, but the same message keeps on flashing on the ATM machine. On my third attempt, it says: "PIN-RETRY-LMT".

Monday, August 9. Went to the bank again,  but this time at their Magsaysay branch. I try to make a deposit to my account using the ATM machine and the transaction is completed. But, when I try to make a withdrawal, the same problem occurs, I still can't withdraw money.

I went inside the bank to file complaint. The teller said that my ATM card is good, my online and deposit transaction is also good. THERE'S NO PROBLEM! I correctly input my PIN, but how come it says "PIN-RETRY-LMT".

To resolve, she suggested to change my ATM card. So, I pay P150 for the replacement and wait for 2-3 weeks and the bank will call me if my new card is available.

BTW, prior to that, I also call Union Bank of the Philippines hotline number, but no one is answering the call.

August 17, I received an email from EON. My ATM Card is READY TO PICK UP!

In just a week, I already have my EON Union Bank ATM Card.

I try to change my pin that day, but my card is not yet activated. I have to wait 24 hours to activate my card.

Finally, after 24 hours card is activated. I received a text message from Union Bank to update my card details, especially if I have linked my previous EON card to website and apps.

Now, I can pay my bills, purchase online, send & receive money, and withdraw cash from ATM with no hassle. Very easy indeed to have EON card! If you want to open an account with no unnecessary fees, no penalties and get full use of your money at all times — Get your EON CARD now! For more details, visit EONBANKPH

Advice for those who have a problem with their Union Bank Debit/Credit card, go to the Union Bank branch near you. It's more less hassle to visit their branch than to depend on their hotline.
