Last November 28th, Davao Global Township (DGT) Matina immersed itself in the spirit of Filipino Christmas with its annual Paskong Pinoy Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.
The event was a vibrant celebration of Filipino culture and tradition, where guests and visitors were encouraged to don their finest Filipiniana attire. The festive atmosphere was palpable as the community gathered to witness the lighting of the majestic Christmas tree.
The centerpiece of the event, a towering Christmas tree, was adorned with traditional Filipino decorations, including parol lanterns and colorful ornaments.
With Enchanting Performances from talented local artists showcased the beauty of Filipino culture through captivating performances of traditional dances, songs, and plays.
Plus the Joyful Activities for Kids: Children were entertained with fun-filled activities like singing and dancing.

The celebration kicked off with an absolutely fabulous production number! It was a sight to behold, filled with glitz, glamour, and all the pizzazz you could ever dream of. The energy in the room was simply electric as the performers dazzled us with their impeccable dance moves and show-stopping. Picture this: an enchanting evening filled with the harmonious melodies of a violin, played by none other than the illustrious Sir Ton2. As the sweet notes dance through the air, they are joined by the captivating voice of the talented Ms. Valene Lagunilla, a classical/opera singer whose vocal prowess knows no bounds. And let us not forget the elegant accompaniment of a grand piano, skillfully played by the esteemed Mr. Roger Bert Goleng Jr. Together, these extraordinary artists create a symphony of sound that transports us to a world of pure musical bliss. It is a performance that will surely leave you spellbound, as the power of their collective talent takes center stage.

Get ready to immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere as we embark on this unforgettable journey at the newest hotspot in town.

For many individuals, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony may not always elicit a sense of excitement and anticipation during the festive season. For many individuals, the absence of a Christmas tree in their own abode may leave them in awe when they encounter the myriad of captivating designs, luminous lights, and exquisite ornaments adorning these majestic trees. In this season of gratitude, it is essential to acknowledge the incredible blessings that life has bestowed upon us, regardless of our emotions or physical appearance. It is a time to reflect on the wonders of existence and express our heartfelt appreciation for all that we have been given.
After all, this is the SEASON to give back all the blessings we had in 2023 and be grateful enough for the AMAZING life God bestowed on us!

It has been a while since I last witnessed the Christmas lighting event at SM City Davao. I have a short story to share. I have been working at SM City Davao for the past 7 years, specifically as a member of the pioneering team at SM Affiliates—Health and Beauty. Watsons bought Health & Beauty during that time, but it is still a part of the SM affiliates. I was assigned to Branch 75, which is located at Watsons Mall. During my time there, the Christmas lighting ceremony always took place right in front of my store — The Atrium. Wherein we can catch a glimpse of the events and activities that SM City offers to their customers.
The most recent and last Christmas event I attended was the collaboration between Disney and SM City Davao. It was a magical Disney Christmas experience featuring Olaf's Frozen Adventure. The event took place at the SM City Davao Annex Event Center in 2017.
The main attraction of the mall, an Arendelle Castle-inspired winter wonderland, is open to shoppers. This enchanting display features a magnificent 15-foot Christmas tree. With Olaf and his friends as they relive the sights and sounds from the beloved animated film Frozen. Olaf fans can also look forward to a Disney Frozen Toy Fair at the Annex Event Center.
My two daughters had a great time during that period, particularly when they were skating. They really enjoyed it!
Can you believe it? After a whopping six years, I have just received the most enchanting invitation to attend none other than Santa's Starship! I simply cannot contain my excitement! This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I am beyond grateful for. The anticipation is building, and I can already feel the holiday magic swirling in the air. I couldn't contain my excitement as I made the decision to embark on yet another enchanting journey to witness a mesmerizing Christmas lighting event. This time, my heart was set on none other than the beloved SM City Davao, a place that holds a special significance in my professional life.
Arriving at my destination very early, I couldn't help but immerse myself in the picturesque surroundings. As I patiently awaited my adventure to unfold, I seized the opportunity to capture the stunning facade of the place through my mobile lens. I must admit that the exquisite decorations adorning the space completely blew me away. The simplicity of the design was truly captivating, but when the soft glow emanated from the Christmas tree, it transformed into a spectacle of pure glamour.

With utmost gratitude, he expresses his heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering love and support bestowed upon his constituents by SM City Davao.

In an exciting collaboration, SM has joined forces with none other than the legendary Jose Mari Chan, widely regarded as the Father of Philippine Christmas Music. Together, they have crafted a delightful and infectious melody that is bound to add an extra touch of magic to your holiday season. When you step foot inside the enchanting realm of SM Malls during this festive season, your ears will be graced with the delightful melody of a song that goes by the name of "Celebrate Christmas at SM."
The Bears of Joy Campaign, a heartwarming initiative, garnered significant attention during its anticipated launch in 2019. Unfortunately, due to the unforeseen circumstances brought about by the global pandemic, the campaign was unable to be officially launched as planned. In the year 2021, an exciting and highly anticipated event took place: the official launch of the Bears of Joy Campaign. SM has been consistently spreading joy and happiness to children all across the Philippines. When you buy a pair of specially designed bear plushies, one for you and the other to be donated to children in various communities across the country.
Witnessed by esteemed guests, the ceremony was graced by the presence of the illustrious Ms. Joanilee Roda, a Senior Tourism Operations Officer hailing from the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region XI. Additionally, Councilor Bernard Al-ag's Chief of Staff, the esteemed Atty. Tet Dillera, also graced the occasion with their distinguished presence.
Introducing the remarkable individuals gracing the scene: Fire SInsp. Diana Mamon, the epitome of strength and bravery. Joining her is DATA Secretary Edna Cheng, a true visionary in her field. And let's not forget the radiant beauties who have captured our hearts: Mutya ng Dabaw 2023, the enchanting Maria Isabel Pelayo, and Hiyas sa Kadayawan 2023, the captivating Kristine Claire Tar.
