    By Tyrone Acierto
BEST PICTURE and BEST DIRECTOR for MMFF NEW WAVE 2012

Now on its 40th year, The Metro Manila Film Festival’s “New Wave” competition was the brainchild of MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino. It was introduced in 2010 due to the continued popularity of “Indie” films that serve as a platform for aspiring student and independent film enthusiasts to showcase their talents.

“This year, as we celebrate our 40th year, MMFF will continue the tradition of supporting independent films through a bigger, better, and bolder New Wave Section,” Tolentino said.

The festival has four (4) categories namely, Full Length, Animation, Student shorts and Cinephone. Entries for all categories are now being accepted in the MMDA office in Makati City.

For Full Length category, entries must have a minimum total running time of 75 minutes and must have been completed from 2013 onwards. Deadline for submission of entries is September 4.

Student Shorts, on the other hand, is open to student filmmakers from local colleges and universities. Entries must have a maximum 20 minutes running time and must have been filmed within 2014. Deadline for submission is until October 4.

For Animation category, entries must have a maximum total running time of 12 minutes and completed from 2013 onwards.

The Cinephone competition, meanwhile, is a nationwide cellphone movie-making contest for high school and college students. This year’s theme is “Pagbangon Pagkalipas ng Kalamidad,” a timely theme that would showcase the resilience of Filipinos in times of calamity, to the world. Deadline for submission of entries is October 4, with 60 videos to be selected as finalists.

Big prizes await this year’s winners.

Chairman Tolentino announced that the Full Length entry to be adjudged as Best Picture will receive a cash prize of P300,000. A “Special Jury” prize will also be awarded with P200,000 cash. Apart from its regular showing during the festival in December, all entries will be given a special commercial run in at least 20 cinemas in 2015.

For Student Shorts, the Best Picture will receive P50,000 and P25,000 each for special awards.

The Best Picture in the Animation section, will get a P100,000 cash prize.

Six winners in the Cinephone competition will each receive P25,000 plus  paid internships from Viva Films, Scenema Concept, and Quantum Films, among others.

The lecture series is open to all. Admission is free. The University Caravan visits Muntinlupa on August 16, at the Expo Trade Hall, Festival Mall, Alabang

In buying cars you have to be really accurate and well detailed. Important things should be taken and not to be taken for granted.

When you bought a brand new car and something goes wrong, go back to the dealer and ask for a repair or a refund or a replacement for the "LEMON" car, but you only received a reply from the company, a "SORRY" or not a single word at all.

So thankful that this law is now implemented here in the Philippines, The LEMON LAW.

What is a LEMON? A term use to describe a car that is unsafe, inefficient, had a repeated problems, or defect. In New York, they had this law, that if you buy a brand new or a second hand car the buyer has the right to return the car if they discovered it defected and its not working well.

Now, here in the Philippines we have this new law, RA 10642, " An Act Strengthening Consumer Protection in the Purchase of Brand New Motor Vehicles, approved last July 15, 2014 by our President Benigno S. Aquino 111.

    (C) BAM AQUINO PAGE

These are some of the highlights of RA 10642:

Sec.4 - COVERAGE: This act shall cover brand new motor vehicles purchased in the Philippines reported by a consumer to be in nonconformity with the vehicle's manufacturer or distributor's standard or specifications within 12 months from the date of original delivery to the consumer, or up to 20,000 kilometers of operation after such delivery, whichever comes first.

Sec.5 - REPAIR ATTEMPTS: At any time within the Lemon Law rights period, and after at least 4 separate repair attempts for the same complaint, the consumer may invoke his or her rights under the Act. Repair includes replacement of parts, components, or assemblies.

Sec.6 - Before availing the act under Sec 5, the consumer shall, in writing, notify the manufacturer, distributor, authorized retailer or dealer.

Department of Trade and Industry should implement the Rules and Regulations within 90 days from the effectivity of the ACT.

Two people bind together as one, a relationship that had a vow, to live together eternally. A mutual understanding that expressed in the Sacrament of Matrimony.

photo credit: Caucas' via photopin cc

It's like a fairy tale story, finding your Prince Charming or your Queen and have a happy ending, "TO LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER".

But when MISTRUST comes in, love totally goes away.

Every relationship there's always a trial as they usually say, but if that trials destroys your trust it is another story.

Been betrayed many times, not once, but so many times. I suspect many of us can relate to this feeling the clinging to a grudge. We felt the anger and we wanted to REVENGE. We can easily forgive but somethings is holding us not to forget it.

photo credit: mugley via photopin cc

It's not easy to forget when the love of your life breaks your heart.  But it doesn't imply that if you don't have that trust you will not love again. Though the fear of trusting might be broken again, you still hold on because you believe that this is LIFE and a part of a trial that is proving you to be STRONG.

Paranoid of a little hurts, that when suspicion arises, you will feel that someone will hurt you again.

I am a POSITIVE PERSON, I think that everything run so good.  But when it comes to RELATIONSHIP I always go wrong because I think that way. Rationalizing the feelings that when this MAN do this to me, this MAN will do that to me once more.

The reality, it takes time for me to trust again.

photo credit: Lel4nd via photopin cc

It will take courage to acknowledge my feelings and willingness to take a person once again in my life, to bring back that trust again I have to start it within myself.

It takes a mutual commitment to hear and honor what other person once to say about me. And moving beyond instead of living from the past full of memories.

Rehashing the old ideas into a new form without changing any significant details just to help me improve myself. And to think that everything had a good purpose why that person is hurting me.

And to believe, that there will be that someone who will treat me RESPECT and give CONSIDERATION in everything that I do. I will not close my door for love.

Read this from an FB post:

The thing about being DEFENSIVE in everything you do is that everything becomes a BATTLE, and no one ever WINS.

I will love-hurt-love-hurt over and over. Only this time I will take precautions, I will ask myself IF I AM READY to take the RISK? And I am ready to TRUST again?

I've been looking all over the internet for an online job that will help me to have a realistic income from a comfort of a home and to connect my website to boost page views as well.

I've been in BUBBLEWS since before it was created, that was in the year of 2012,exactly, November 6, 2012.

As far as I can remember, BUBBLEWS that time was still promoting their site as one of another SOCIAL NETWORKING, the only difference was that, if you post, comment, like or dislike, and connect  it has a corresponding sum of money that you can redeemed if it hit a threshold of $25 and now they increases it to $50(great move).

photo credit: Kris Olin via photopin cc

A bit skeptical to sign-up because I am afraid it is just another SCAM. So curious that time and I don't know what this site is all about. Surprisingly, I received my first redemption and so on and so forth. I thought I cannot have my payment because that time they encounter so many problems and technical maintenance repair, the site is always DOWN.

I'm in my 2 years(almost) here at BUBBLEWS, so far so good, though sometimes they still hold the so-called UNDER MAINTENANCE but still glad they don't forget to pay me now. Glad that the people behind BUBBLEWS is doing the BEST to make the site more productive, organize and more BUBBLIER(so thrilled to know that it has now million active users).

I've been working hard and now I can see a good result from BUBBLEWS.  Being a member of the fastest growing social networking site, the BUBBLEWS, my great pleasure working with them.  It helps me shared and encourage people to link to my website and read my blog post and I am now comfortable making comments or posting as well.

So excited for this post at the site: "we've all been waiting for it... Reading from ARVIND-BUBBLEWS CEO post dated July 14, 2014.

I will keep this one short and sweet. Something is coming and it is coming soon.

What?  Is this another format of Bubblews? Another NEW BUBBLEWS?

THIS IS GREAT!!!  So excited to unwrap the NEWS....LET IT GO...LET IT GO....hahahahaha.....HAPPY!

      Thanks BUBBLEWS and MABUHAY!!!

Clubbing is a real deal now.  I know people of my age like to go clubbing after the hard work they have from the office, but it doesn't interest me that much.  Actually, I am a homebody person, I don't want to go to a club, I rather stay at home and chill out with my family and relatives. But I guess now that I am into making an event, seeing all the DJ's playing, spinning and mixing music. The feeling of "I am ENVIOUS of their HAPPINESS" and at the FACT that you can see the world through their MUSIC, its incredible how people interact with the DJ's and how clubbing change the world, it also changes my ideas and belief in life.

CLUBBING is a UK cultural phenomenon.

photo credit: [xinita] via photopin cc

United Kingdom embarked on this kind of RAVE culture and it delivers a huge impact to the people now a days, the dance music which sustain a massive appeal in Chicago but make its big break commercially in the UK. And now it highlighted the lifestyle of the young people here in the Philippines, especially Davao City.

The fact that we are filled with a lot of mix culture, tradition, color and creeds we
naturally belong to an ART root which is intrinsic to a high quality of life. The MUSIC gives different output and atmosphere played by DJ's who have a major role in song selection, giving a memento and adding some narrative aspects in doing the DJ thingy.

Taking in the TOP 3 VENUES of today's DISCO BAR here in Davao: STARR, CLUB VELVET and ACROPOLIS SUPERCLUB it has a big influence to the genres of today, that is to me one of my favorite living here in the metropolis.

Maybe some of you will disagree because you have that NOTION that CLUBS has a connection to DRUGS, which is I beg to disagree. Here in Davao City, DRUG is prohibited. So, if you want to visit or transfer to Davao, DRUG TRAFFICKING is a SUICIDE!

There is always a positive outcome of it that is Davao as a region composed of 5 provinces: COMVAL, Davao Del Norte, Davao Del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao City and Davao Occidental. This means that having other cultural diversities here in Davao added by the mix taste of music and how great the foreign influences, our Filipino music is still indispensable. Regardless of what culture we have here in Davao when it comes to music we are ONE!

This year 2014, people prefer to dance and go Club Bar Hopping irrespective how much the entry fee they still love to come. Which means that DANCE MUSIC is very popular and its getting bigger than ever. It's so ubiquitous because you can see it everywhere and people know more of it. For example, the EDM or the ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC. Once you heard it played by the DJ's everyone will surely DANCE and JUMP for JOY and LAUGHTER, hearing their song being played initial reaction is to SING with it as well!

CLUBBING plays a vital role in promoting and introducing new music to young people and also for the young at hearts, with the DJ who does not focus to play dub-step or house. They also play TRANCE or EDM, or a TECHNO, BASS, JUNGLE, HARDCORE and etc. Playing with different genres that their audiences will love and I think this is a really good thing.

Adding here is the way we wear our clothes, CLUBBING hit FASHION Lifestyle. Fashion and music connect in ways one could not imagine. Because music affect our mood, the experience of having it and believing in it that MUSIC can make difference in the world as with our personal fashion lifestyle.

Music gives color to the air of the moment. ~said by the Internationally famous designer Karl Lagerfeld

For better understanding on HOW CLUBBING CHANGED THE WORLD, here's a video documentary on the impact that EDM had on clubbing in the UK and the rest of the world by IDRIS ELBA an English television, theater and film actor.

Have you ever tried to make a LOOM BAND BRACELETS? A rainbow rubber band bracelets which are very popular right now here in the Philippines.

photo credit: missresincup via photopin cc

I've tried once, but I'd give up because of my hectic schedule and also I suffer headache due to an eye problem.

However, as I see it many are hooked on this kind of an artwork. I can see many loom bands in the market, but you don't know how safety it is for your children's. So as a mother and wanted to teach my kids to make one for themselves, I hover my mouse and search for a loom band that will give me satisfaction guaranteed safe.

Then trying to search for the right loom band, I discovered this:

RAINBOW LOOM was invented in 2011 by CHEONG CHOON NG of Novi, Michigan. A Malaysian immigrant of a Chinese descent.

When he was still working at Nissan Motor company in 2010, he conceived the idea of making a toy-loom for a rubber band crafting. His first TOY LOOM was called TWISTZ BANDZ, a wooden board that uses a pushpins and dental hooks. But when he heard that there is an elastic hair band on the market that is called Twist Band, his brother and niece came up the name RAINBOW LOOM.

Rainbow Loom is a plastic pegboard measuring 2 inches(51mm)by 8 inches(200mm).  It is safe to use because its FREE from PHTHLATES, LEAD, CADMIUM, CHROMIUM, MERCURY and ARSENIC and it is approved by the US TOY SAFETY STANDARDS.

Love to look at the finished product, the bracelets are so amazing to put on.  The styles, the designs and colors with the tips and techniques will help elevate the skills and ideas of children in their ART WORK, and on how to make it will give you special bonding with your kids as well.

As of September 2013, Rainbow Loom had sold over 1.2 million units according to Ng. And it said to be the most search topic in GOOGLE and named as one of the three most popular toys in 2013 by CYBER MONDAY AWARDS.

      My youngest daughter, Chelsea.
Wearing her loom bands given to her by a friend as a gift.

So trending with the TWEENS and the TEENS and also with the young at heart.

The multicolored rubber bands are not just for the hair but also for fashion used to create wonderful bracelets, rings, necklaces, hair ornaments, anklets, and other unique crafts that everyone would love to own, be an awesome gift or to start your own business and sell your homemade LOOM BANDS.
