Have you ever tried to make a LOOM BAND BRACELETS? A rainbow rubber band bracelets which are very popular right now here in the Philippines.

I've tried once, but I'd give up because of my hectic schedule and also I suffer headache due to an eye problem.

However, as I see it many are hooked on this kind of an artwork. I can see many loom bands in the market, but you don't know how safety it is for your children's. So as a mother and wanted to teach my kids to make one for themselves, I hover my mouse and search for a loom band that will give me satisfaction guaranteed safe.

Then trying to search for the right loom band, I discovered this:

RAINBOW LOOM was invented in 2011 by CHEONG CHOON NG of Novi, Michigan. A Malaysian immigrant of a Chinese descent.

When he was still working at Nissan Motor company in 2010, he conceived the idea of making a toy-loom for a rubber band crafting. His first TOY LOOM was called TWISTZ BANDZ, a wooden board that uses a pushpins and dental hooks. But when he heard that there is an elastic hair band on the market that is called Twist Band, his brother and niece came up the name RAINBOW LOOM.

Rainbow Loom is a plastic pegboard measuring 2 inches(51mm)by 8 inches(200mm). It is safe to use because its FREE from PHTHLATES, LEAD, CADMIUM, CHROMIUM, MERCURY and ARSENIC and it is approved by the US TOY SAFETY STANDARDS.

As of September 2013, Rainbow Loom had sold over 1.2 million units according to Ng. And it said to be the most search topic in GOOGLE and named as one of the three most popular toys in 2013 by CYBER MONDAY AWARDS.

So trending with the TWEENS and the TEENS and also with the young at heart.

The multicolored rubber bands are not just for the hair but also for fashion used to create wonderful bracelets, rings, necklaces, hair ornaments, anklets, and other unique crafts that everyone would love to own, be an awesome gift or to start your own business and sell your homemade LOOM BANDS.

I use to scrap all the time, it's my hobby since graders. Then I become a mother, I haven't found time to do it again and on top of that I have to baby sit my two children.

Now that they are all grown up, I said to myself I will go back to scrapbooking. ;;)

Keeping a journal or a diary is a must for me, I enjoy writing and posting photos in my book. I have kept all of my old diaries and have a drawer of notes for me to know where I get those pictures (for future reference). Honestly, I am pedantic about getting all the right details/information. ;))

This time need to share my talent in arts and crafts with my youngest daughter. She's eager to learn the basic techniques in scrapbooking such as cutting, gluing and wrapping. I am pretty sure that she will become a passionate crafter too! [-O<

CUTTING

Guide your children in doing this part. After putting a line using a pencil and a ruler, you need a scissor to cut the desired size of your scrapbook.

Chelsea, had a problem in holding a scissor, so I volunteer myself to cut the board for her.

GLUING

Since this is the easiest part of the basic techniques in making a scrapbook, I let Chelsea do it but still with my guidance.

She is assigned to fold the wrapper to the glued board.

WRAPPING or Covering

After covering, you have to cut a colored cartolina, a bit smaller size with your chipboard.

And place the colored cartolina at the other side of the board.

Use a puncher and arrange your pages/layout. I get my layout pages from a site that you can easily download and print.

Put a post screw to bound your book.

Why do I use Post Screw to bound my book?

It is easy to change or update. You can add more pages if you like.

That's all, hope your children can do this too.

Once they will learn the basic scrapbooking procedures, it will teach them to learn money skills or money management that instead of buying they will make on their own.

This is fun and relaxing hobby that you can teach to the whole family.

And also you will enjoy the quality time together with your kids.

SEMBREAK!!!!! HALLOWEEN PARTY!!!!!

Where do I start? Oh need to look for a place that give us the fullest relaxation under the sun. Many of us need this, relaxation is zoning out in front of the computer and at the end of a stressful day at work or in school.

Sembreak is close in celebrating Halloween. The word means different things to different people around the world. Here in the Philippines, we celebrate Halloween now just like in a western country wherein kids dress up in spooky dresses and have a "Trick or Treat" in a mall or in an exclusive subdivision, knocking doors asking for candies. And my kids want something different to celebrate it.

Why not hold it at the beach! Sounds great! I remember that I promised them that if they got good grades we were going to the beach and celebrate it. And it is always a great time to come and relax on the beach.

Wake up at 5 in the morning, prepare our things and food as well. Head for one of the BLUE TAXI. The metro is cheap; one ride costs PHp151 from Trading Blvd. to Costa Marina Wharf. You don't have to worry while riding Davao Taxi Cab because all drivers know where to get the boat going to Costa Marina or Paradise Island.

We need to walk a few steps going to the wharf, staffs will assist you which boat going to Costa Marina. The wharf is open every day, but on weekdays the operation is less crowded and it implies that they aren't expecting it to be overly busy.

We went there October 30, Wednesday. The wharf is so quiet not crowded at all. It seems that all the people are going to the other resort and there are only 4 of us going to Costa Marina; me, my mom and my two girls. So I decided to choose the CHARTER BOAT FARE than to wait for 10 people to ride the boat in order for us to go to Costa Marina.

COSTA MARINA is a hidden jewel of Island Garden City of Samal(IGACOS) outside of the hustle and bustle of Davao City.

This beach resort is so marvelous. We went there at a time when it was really quiet(which I really appreciate it).

We are gladly welcome by the staff of COSTA MARINA. As usual getting photos as soon we arrive at the resort.

My kids enjoy it so much. The rest of the time it felt like we owned the island. The views are gorgeous and you truly feel like you are in paradise, so placid and serene.

The beach is beautiful. The weather was wonderful. And spending time with my girls playing in the sand is the most enjoyable thing we have shared together.

You don't have to worry about the food because they have KALAGAN BAR and COUNTER to serve you sumptuous food.

We already bring our food but need to taste their food, so we order their TINOLANG MALASUEGE and it taste excellent!

But if you need to stay overnight well nothing to worry about because they have cottages(rooms) that are well equipped with comfortable beds and nice balcony facing the seashore.

Our first visit to COSTA MARINA was awesome considering that the place is also a Wi-Fi FREE ZONE. We did the total relaxation and we had a great time. Staffs made our trip so memorable with their knowledge and added humour in servicing their guests and visitors.
