Empowerment Through Enterprise: The B’yaneng Journey Vol. 1 Book Launch in Tagum City

A Celebration of Women, Stories, and Sustainable Livelihoods

The recent Book Signing Event for EMPOWERMENT THROUGH ENTERPRISE: The B'yaneng Journey Vol. 1 was a powerful gathering that highlighted courage, resilience, and the transformative impact of livelihood on women’s lives. Written and published by Alma Lim and Dr. Maria Esther D. Paraba, the book captures real stories of women who rebuilt their lives through enterprise—each chapter a testament to strength and possibility.

More than just a publication, The B’yaneng Journey Vol. 1 serves as a reminder that empowerment often begins with the simplest spark: a need, an idea, or a single opportunity that grows when nurtured with hard work and faith.

A Book Rooted in Purpose

Authors Alma Lim and Dr. Maria Esther D. Paraba poured their advocacy into every page, celebrating the B’yaneng women who have turned challenges into stepping stones. Their work documents how community programs, access to livelihood training, and genuine support systems can uplift women and entire families.

A Story of Perseverance: Aling Rose Myra ‘Bibing’ A. Pontimayor

Among the many inspiring stories in the book, the journey of Aling Rose Myra “Bibing” A. Pontimayor stands out as a shining example of determination and hope.

(Sorry for the blurry photo)

Her entrepreneurial beginnings were incredibly humble—starting with just ₱40 and a simple idea: to prepare and sell puso ng saging salad and other homemade dishes. What began as a small effort to support her family grew into something remarkable. Through consistent hard work, discipline, and her unwavering belief that “may pag-asa basta magpursige,” she managed to grow ₱40 into ₱40,000.

But her story doesn’t end with financial success.

With her earnings, Aling Bibing was able to send her children to university, ensuring that they received the education she once only dreamed of providing. Her journey reflects the true spirit of B’yaneng—women who rise not just for themselves but for their families and communities.

Her life mirrors the book’s message: that no amount is too small, no beginning too humble, and no dream too impossible when fueled by perseverance.

A Meaningful Book Signing Event

The book signing brought together advocates, educators, community leaders, and empowered women. Attendees listened to the authors share the heart behind the project and celebrated the women whose stories now serve as motivation for others.

It wasn’t merely a launch—it felt like a tribute to every woman who fights quietly every day to secure a better future for her family.
