The Assumption School of Davao (ASD) Batch 1993 will be hosting this year's Grand Homecoming to be held on the 7th of December at the SMX Convention Center.

This year's celebration is extra special as it also marks the Assumption's 60th founding anniversary. This year's theme, "ROCK N' LOL" (Live Our Legacy) was carefully thought of to recognize the school's journey as well as that of all alumni through the years. A rock, another term coined for diamonds, recognizes the school's 60 years since it was founded.

As ASD alumni, the batch would like to encourage and inspire every Assumptionist to assimilate the values learned during the school years and give these back to the community, to make a positive difference, hence the incorporation of "LIVE OUR LEGACY" in this year's theme.

To make this year's homecoming even more meaningful, the batch, headed by this year's President, Judith Alorro Aretaño, is launching the "Support our Lumad Teachers" program. This is part of the batch's commitment to give back to the community and to support our dedicated Lumad teachers with what little we can give so they can continue with their mission to bring education to our Lumad children in Paquibato and Marilog districts.

This year's celebration is anticipated to be a night of fun and spontaneity, tapping on local talents, so you can expect not just singing and dancing but also a showcase of other unique talents.

    WINNING GROUP will received PHp10,000
and NON-WINNING GROUP will received a consolation prize of PHp2,000

Another highlight this year is a dance competition aimed at bringing all batches together. So a challenge is being issued to dance enthusiasts out there -- form groups now and represent your batch with pride. Be quick as only the first 8 groups to register will have a chance to bag a prize and be declared the kings and queens of the dance floor! Please visit ACDat60 on Facebook or drop by the ACD Alumni Office and look for Ma'am Fe Palma for more details.

Will barely three months to go till the big day, the activities of the different committees have ramped up with everyone beaming with excitement and anticipation. The Program Committee, headed by this year's Secretary, Jasmine Monteposo Balbes, is already in full swing and will remain so leading to the event. The other officers and committee heads are also out and about ensuring minuscule details are taken on board and attended to. It is indeed a busy time not just for the officers but more so for the rest of the batchmates who have made their contributions in different shapes and forms. The batch is grateful to this year's honoree batch, Batch 1968, headed by their President, Emma Isonza Venzon, for their unwavering support and invaluable inputs.

With so much hard work and commitment put into this year's homecoming, it is with great pride that Batch 1993 invites all Assumptionsts to attend this gathering.

Let's be one! Let's celebrate our school's journey, and together, let's live a lasting legacy.

We look forward to seeing you on the 7th December at the SMX Convention Center. Doors open at 5PM, and program starts at 7pm.

    ONWARD, ONWARD ASSUMPTION!

A cooking demonstration facilitator should be someone with cooking experience or knowledge. An expert from a community block or it could be a representative from a marketing board or grocery store. Someone who is certified food handler (especially if they are going to provide taste samples) and ensure that Safe Food Handling Principles are used.

My privilege to be invited to the French Baker and Tefal Small Domestic Appliances "EASY FOOD TREATS" with Chef Johnlu Koa at SM Davao Annex Event Center yesterday, October 12.

And to meet the man behind Lartizan( an upscale boulangerie), Qwikbread, The French Baker Salon de Thè, and Chatime - Mister Chef Baker himself - Johnlu Koa.

One of his biggest and successful ventures was The French Baker, he believes in giving Filipinos a wider variety of French-inspired bread, pastry, pasta and other dishes. Some of its goodies are Tortilla wraps, half loaf, Asian baguette, whole wheat half loaf, low sugar crumbs and French sourdough croutons.

I really have fun during the cooking demo. We are taught on how to whip up easy and have a sumptuous treat after, using the trusted appliances from TEFAL - the plancha compact, chopper, sandwich maker, food processor and bread toaster.

The event was done just in time for the WORLD BREAD DAY on October 16.

The French Baker, together with Tefal Small Domestic Appliances, wanted to teach and give proper information on how to make a great food without breaking the bank or spending too much time in the kitchen.

And what make this event more fun, is the inter-active cooking demo of French Baker founder, Chef Baker Johnlu Koa with lucky members from the audience, to make sure people get a hands-on experience on how to make an enticing meals.

Some of his recipes includes Salami Toasties and Tortilla Chips with Tzatsiki, Hummus & Salsa. Chef Koa also prepared Bahn Mi, Chicken Lollipop with Chipotle Mayo, Mozarella Sticks, Grilled Vegetable Sandwich and Salad in Citrus Vinaigrette. He also shared tips on how to make a perfect Crackling Pork with Lechon Sauce. (Photos and recipes soon be posted at Davao Foodie Online site)

The French Baker become one of the most formidable pillars in the country's food industry with over 60 branches nationwide. With branches at SM located in SM City Davao and SM Lanang Fountain Court and Atrium.

Tefal Small Appliances can be purchased at SM Appliance Center and SM Department Store.

As what Chef Koa and Tefal would like to imply, they want to deliver GOOD Food for GOOD People!
